What

Choosing a sport is easy; the hard part is finding a team. With this in mind, our client approached us with the idea for an app that helps sports enthusiasts of all abilities easily connect and organize activities. They saw untapped potential in the market for a solution that could break down the barriers that make team sports harder to pick up—such as the difficulty in finding players, suitable locations, or the know-how to get started.

Insight

A sports platform shouldn’t just make it easy to find a game; it should also make it easy to find the right people who share your passion. Through interviews with a diverse group of sports enthusiasts, we uncovered key insights that shaped our approach. The main motivation for joining team sports was socialization—a sense of community, meeting friends in new settings, and connecting with like-minded people. We learned that users wanted a platform that didn’t require constant online presence, but instead offered straightforward, practical features to make organizing games easy and stress-free.

Positioning

Based on our insights, our strategy was to create a local sports engine that empowers users to build and strengthen their own sports communities through an open ecosystem. The platform needed to handle all the heavy lifting, making it effortless for people to organize or join games. This local sports engine would act as a streamlined system, offering all the necessary tools to bring a local squad together quickly and easily.

Outcome

And so, the Wisl app came to life. Inspired by the universal sound of a whistle—a call that grabs attention and invites people to join—Wisl makes it simple to understand and easy to get involved. Our design team andstudio envisioned a sporty visual identity that matches Wisl’s concept. Bright colors and friendly photography connect users to the core message: movement is liberating, but team sports ignite something deeper—a sense of community. The letter 'W,' representing the logo, becomes the brand's central character, embodying an active figure that users can relate to—whether playing basketball, kicking a football, or smashing it at badminton.
